Communion Reflection:

‘You are my beloved Son, in you I am well pleased.’
Thus right from the start of his public mission Jesus received affirmation from his Father.

One of the deepest needs of the human heart is the need to be appreciated.
Every human being wants to be valued.
We all need someone who will help us unfold.
We need someone to believe in us,
who will help us to be ourselves.

We need someone who understands us, someone who can see the hidden self in us that is perhaps afraid to come out into the open.
Only such a person will help us to share all we are, making us believe in our own goodness,
and awakening in us a desire to share it with others.

At our Baptism we too became children of the Father, and we received the gift of the Holy Spirit.
The Spirit will help us to unfold and grow, bringing his love to our brothers and sisters.
Thus we will become more and more pleasing in the sight of the heavenly Father.

Christmas Message 2017: At Christmas we recall the birth of a baby in Bethlehem. A birth that would dramatically change the relationship between God and the human race. We remember that Jesus was born into a family; he was a son. He was brought up by Mary and Joseph and by his wider family and local community.
We think of our own family and we miss those who are not with us. At this time we are mindful of families that are vulnerable because of poverty, homelessness and exile.
Next August the World Meeting of Families will take place in Ireland. Dublin was chosen by Pope Francis as the venue to host this important event. It will be a conversation about the value of family life; all are welcome to prepare and to participate. We hope that Pope Francis will be there and I hope that you will be able to come and to celebrate family. I wish you and your family and your friends a Christmas that is joyful and peaceful and full of hope, because of the birth of Jesus, God among us. Francis Duffy. Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnois

Christmas Card / New Year Calendar: Each home should by now have received their Christmas Card/Calendar, if not there are some available in our Churches. You may wish to send one to people belonging to you, living elsewhere. You are welcome to take some for these people living away from home.

Welcome: – To those who are coming home for Christmas, to those with us for their first Christmas, to Foreign Nationalists living among us and to those visiting among us.

Christmas Greetings and Gratitude: Thank you all very much for your support to our Parish which is important and appreciated. My Holy Mass and prayers during Christmas will be offered for each of you and all your intentions.

Christmas Wishes: A very happy Christmas of peace and joy and a blessed New Year is my wish for each of you at home and away this Christmas.
