Abbeylara GAA Club: Hold their Annual presentation night on Sat 28th Jan in the Pikers Lodge Gowna. At this function the Reserve League Div 1 and Div 3 winners will receive their medals. A great night’s entertainment with food in buffet form and music in store. Tickets available for any Club Officer and committee. Your support would be appreciated. Meeting on Thur. 26th Jan in the Sports Centre 9.30pm to arrange the above function. All officers and committee members please attend. Membership of the Club is now due. Adults €25; couple €40 player €50 includes membership and insurance; player student €35; non player student & \OAP €10. Please pay your membership fee to Pat McHugh, Patsy Lynch or any club officer before Thursday 1st March.
Thanks: Abbeylara GAA Club says thanks very much to the GAA President Christy Cooney and the Communications Officer Croke Park Alan Milton who came to our Club & Parish on Tue 17th Jan. This was a very creative and positive gathering. Sincere thanks to all the people who took part in this Ag Eisteacht programme.

Community Employment Schemes; Public meeting for all voluntary and community groups on Mon 23rd Jan in Edi Centre, Masterteck Business Park, Athlone Road, Longford at 8pm.
Active Retirement: Next meeting on January 26th in the Sports Centre at 11.am. We will make you welcome and you’ll be saying why didn’t I come sooner. We are now trying to organise a day out to Dublin Zoo and see some of our other friends. Phone 6686057 Maureen.
Abbeylara Rural Enhancement: A very constructive meeting was held on Thur last in the Sports Centre. Work on cementing our official title and fundraising were discussed. A table quiz with the theme “How well do you know your Parish”is in the pipeline. Next meeting Thur 26th Jan 8.30 in the Sports Centre. All are welcome

Abbeylara Community Alert: A good response to the text alert at the meeting on Thursday last. Anyone who still wishes to join can do so by collecting their application form from the Church. It is hoped to have the text alert up and running in the next two to three weeks. Next meeting on Monday 30th Jan in the Sports Centre at 8pm
Abbeylara NS Parents: An important meeting about budget cuts for all parents of pupils in Abbeylara NS will be held on Monday 23rd Jan in the School Hall at 8pm. A full attendance is requested.
